About Macaulay & Co. - Independent Property Specialists in Cross Hills

Macaulay started his career in property at 16, straight out of school, as an apprentice at Inghams in Bingley - an independent letting agency that gave him the grounding he has never forgotten.

Over the next 13 years he earned his industry qualifications, joined ARLA, became a regulated PropertyMark member, and spent five years as Branch Manager at a well-established Bingley firm. He did try to leave, twice. First to sell IT equipment. Then to pursue a career in aviation. Neither lasted long. The pull of property - and this part of Yorkshire in particular - was stronger. He came back, and Macaulay & Co. was the result.

Outside the office, Macaulay plays football locally for Sutton and follows Everton with the kind of loyalty that says a great deal about his character. He lives locally with his family, which means when he tells a vendor he knows the area, he means it in the most literal sense.

Joanne is the person who keeps everything running. She handles the day-to-day property management and administration that keeps our landlords and tenants looked after - and she does it with a level of care and attention to detail that comes from spending years in two demanding professions.

Before joining Macaulay & Co., Joanne built experience in the mortgage sector, specifically in complaint handling for a large corporation - which means she understands financial processes, client communication and the importance of getting things right first time. She is also a registered nurse, still working for the NHS locally. That background gives her an instinctive empathy with people going through stressful situations, which in property happens more often than you might expect. Joanne is an accredited member of PropertyMark.

Outside the office, you might spot her walking in the village with the family and the dogs - Doug and Dottie, who occasionally grace the office with their presence and unfailing good moods.

Although not always in the office, Doug and Dottie are the dynamic duo of our “barketing” team. When they’re not busy napping or chasing their tails, these furry colleagues are boosting morale and providing plenty of laughs. Doug specialises in barking out the latest ideas, while Dottie ensures everyone stays pawsitive. They’re the heart and soul of our team, and they never miss an opportunity to fetch new clients!
